Our GNP Mexico home and condo insurance program has been improved!
When our affiliates said their customer’s needed a program that would allow reconstruction costs up to $1million, we voiced their concerns to our preferred “A rated” carrier partner, Grupo Nacional Provincial (GNP) Seguros S.A.B., and succeeded in getting our already excellent program expanded!
Details about our GNP Mexico home and condo insurance program:
Dwelling and Other Structures Coverage from $5,000 up to $1,000,000
Replacement cost coverage, which works for everything, from small economical condos, up to larger custom homes, and everything in between.
Personal Property Coverage up to $400,000
Replacement value for the contents of the dwelling, including: home furnishings, electronic equipment, and household appliances.
Theft Coverage from $1,000 to $250,000
Coverage for robbery of the personal property kept inside the insured dwelling. Also covers the property damage resulting from a theft attempt.
Glass Coverage from $1,000 to $95,000
Coverage for the replacement and installation of exterior and interior glass, including: mirrors, stained glass windows, and glass domes.
Adjustable Deductibles starting at $500
Getting to choose the deductible amount is uncommon in the Mexico home insurance market, but our program lets customers adjust deductibles to lower their premiums.
Extraordinary Expense Coverage from $1,000 to $200,000
Provides reimbursement of lodging expenses, and lost rental income, when a home becomes uninhabitable, due to a covered loss.
Debris Removal Coverage from $5,000 to $100,000
Coverage for the cost of demolition, clean-up, and for getting rid of the debris.
Civil Liability Coverage up to $1,000,000
With the evolution of Mexico liability law, and more insureds choosing to rent their homes and condos to others, higher limits of liability coverage have become more desirable.
Optional Coverage for Catastrophic Perils
Earthquake and Volcanic Eruption
Earthquake is important coverage, as Mexico sits atop three of the earth’s tectonic plates, making it one of the most seismically active regions in the world. Plus, the dozens of volcanoes found throughout Mexico, are all part of the Pacific Ring of Fire.
Hurricane, Windstorm, and Flooding are serious risks to consider in Mexico. Luckily, our program allows beachfront homes and condos, while coverage can be purchased without having to install costly storm shutters.
*Important note: GNP has a mandatory 15 day waiting period, beginning at policy inception, for Hydro-meteorological events coverage.
Requirements, Restrictions, Exclusions and Recommendations
Heavy Duty Construction
Our program only allows homes that have been built using durable, heavy duty, construction materials.
GNP has a moratorium that prevents writing coverage for risks located inside the Yucatan Peninsula (includes states of Quintana Roo, Yucatan, and Campeche).
Hydro-meteorological coverage is excluded for assets exposed to the elements. Theft coverage is also excluded for any items that are left outside the insured dwelling. However, these exclusions do not apply to the Fire/All-Risk, Liability, and Earthquake/Volcanic Eruption coverages.
Becoming Familiar with the Coverage
Mexico policy forms differ from what most agents are used to in the U.S. and Canada, so it’s important to familiarize yourself with our GNP Mexico homeowners insurance terms and conditions so you’ll feel confident discussing the coverage with your clients.
