Thoughts from Derek...Are you Fully Leveraging Mexico Insurance?

Deep down, I’ve got other interests. Don’t we all? Work is fun and all, but spending my life in an office overseeing the minutia of an insurance agency wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, “when I grew up.” However, insurance is brilliant, isn’t it? I mean, how did I end up here? I saw how other established insurance agents lived. They spent their time golfing, fishing, and skiing. They were always at their kids basketball games; everywhere but working… or so it seemed. As one of my mentors said, “insurance allows me to live the dream”. When I asked him to expound he said, “living off residuals baby!” And so, I have been working in insurance ever since, and while I love insurance, I am still reaching for the residual dream, because I have other interests and loves; my kids, farming and stock trading. What does this have to do with Mexico insurance? The policies don’t renew, so how will I ever reach the residual dream?

Have you put a link on your website or Facebook page? This is literally a way to make money while you sleep. Remember customers can self serve on your website. So if you have not put the link on your site, do it today! Now let’s be real here. Putting a link on your site doesn’t mean instant success (this isn’t a work from home scam). So, look within your circle of influence. Can you get a Mexico related website to link to you? Do your clients know that you offer the product? Ask! Let them know! If they don’t get it from you, they might get it elsewhere, and they might be cross-sold. Send the link in your newsletter. Let your local bank or credit union know that you offer it. Clients that have financed their vehicle need coverage to be able to take their vehicle to Mexico. Banks are a great resource. There are 101 ways to market your products, same with Mexico. The difference is the customer can self serve, which means less overhead, so on and so forth. Get the link on your website!
In addition to the free money, there are significant cost savings. Think about it, when a customer goes to your website, you are saving on a number of things including the cost of your CSR that is quoting Mexico insurance. By providing an online option, your customers serve themselves, which means you don’t have to.
You have the link on your website. Inevitably you will have the occasional customer that is with an insurance company that doesn’t offer Mexico Insurance. Did you know you can download this customer data into an excel file. Think about our application for a second… While we do need the US insurance information for legitimate fraud prevention purposes, you have a customer that you own now, that just gave you vehicle information, and their expiration date. So stop paying for leads, and promote more Mexico Insurance! Get paid to get leads! IN ADDITION YOU WILL BE THE ONLY AGENT TO GET THEM!
Finally, it is true that Mexico Insurance policies don’t renew. That said, it doesn’t mean that you can’t treat them like they do. Send a renewal letter to your clients that bought last year at the same time. Help them remember they can purchase from you again. Think about it. If you have gone to Mexico recently, aren’t you likely to go again? One time trips do happen, but our data shows that many customers return year after year. Retain the business.
Bottom-line: Offering Mexico insurance allows you to make money, get leads for your more standard programs, and retain customers. What more do you want?
